When I was about four years old I was adopted from China. I stayed at an orphanage called Huangshi Children Welfare Institute of Hubei Province. The orphanage is still there today and has a program now where people can tour the place. Since 1995, over 60 children in this orphanage have been adopted. The orphanage provides a home to 50 children and the elderly, however they are separated from each other. Lead to China offer many other different services and programs.

Since I was very young when I was adopted, I can't recall any of it. One day I hope to go back and visit China. I know I probably won't remember anything, but I think it would be very interesting to see where I spent the first four years of my life.

Adoption is something that is very special to me. When I was adopted, I gained a family and a love that I could not imagine. It drastically changed my life for the better. The first few years of my life were not the normal years of a young child, but I wouldn't change it for a thing.

This map represents the distance from China to Texas. I wanted to provide a picture that showed how far my parents went to come and get me.

My family

Here is my whole family. (Left to Right: younger brother, older brother, dad, mom, me, younger sister, older sister and brother-in-law.

Thank You!!!

I started this project because I was intrigued about the adoption process. I had never fully researched it before and I wanted to see what I could find. I also thought it would be fun since I was adopted. There was some things I wasn't aware of or even knew. I think it was interesting to learn ALL the steps that it took for me to get here.

For me, I enjoyed going down memory lane and finding old pictures and watching videos. It's a time that I don't personally remember, but I'm glad that I still have pictures to refelct on. Thank you for taking the time to read this and I hope you enjoy!
