Crime Junkie

Before I chose Mass Communciations as my major, I originally picked Criminal Justice. I took a few courses and was really fascinated by the possibilty of solving crimes or doing research on cases and criminals. I've always enjoyed watching crime shows like Criminal Minds because it was interesting and the characters in the show always had cool careers. Realistically, that show does not have an accurate representation of what people in the FBI actually do, but it was still entertaining to watch. Even though I am not majoring in Criminal Justice anymore, I still like to research and watch documentaries of cases.

A couple of months ago I started listening to a podcast called Crime Junkie. It is run by two women named Ashley and Brit, and they narrate past and sometimes even current crime stories. Some of the cases are unsolved, but a majority of the cases they discsus have been solved. Before I started listening to Crime Junkie, I had never really been interested in podcasts. Most of the time I would lose interest and end up turning it off. However, I have become a little obsessed with their podcast because it's very interetsing and something that always leaves me wanting to learn more.

I think Crime Junkie is a great podcast to listen to if you're interested in crime stories and want to try something new. I will say that most of the cases are disturbing and sometimes very hard to listen to. I sometimes have to take breaks from listening to them because I start to get freaked out. The two girls that run the podcast provide lots of details of the cases that they cover and they even do research before they talk about a case. The main girl, Ashley, is on the board of directors for Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana. Both girls have some connections with law enforcement and try to provide the most accurate information.

If you're interested in listening to this podcast. Here is a story about a man named Jerry Michael Williams who people believed had been eaten by alligators for years, until the truth had been discovered.
